< 3 Weeks.
Summer is slowly winding down, and I have begun to take advantage of the time I have left to prepare for the upcoming school year. (Don’t get me wrong, I have been slowly mapping, planning, purchasing, creating all summer long.. just now I am more committed to actually finishing my projects.) This morning, I completed my year long map, for one class I am teaching— it felt great knowing I was done.. now to just tackle the others. DAUNTING!
I am looking forward to incorporating more novel reading in my classroom this year. Last year, my students read TONS. But this year, I have multiple copies of the same novels and am incredibly thrilled about the literature circle model I created!
Also, I have decided that I will be using Circles of Power and Respect with my classes. I am going to have to tweek a lot of what I’ve read to fit the older age group. I used a version of this with my students last year and was able to see the positive influence it had on the classroom as a community.
There are tons of things wandering around in my head…
- Refocus Area board (painted.. quotes project)
- Disposable Camera Project
- Translate CMP into Spanish
- CPR Instructions
- Pillows
- Classical Music
- “While you were out..”
I am so happy to have my first year over. This years planning just feels so much more natural. I know what I need, what I don’t need. I know what to do and what not to do! It is incredibly relieving knowing more about myself as an educator and knowing that when I screw up (WHICH I WILL!) that I know how to bounce back.
